Making Spiritual Tools Accessible: Affordable, Ethically Sourced Crystals
I opened my Spiritual Shop in 2019, and it’s been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done. From selecting each piece, to cleansing it, to packaging and shipping it out, I get to be part of people’s spiritual journeys in a really personal way.
One question I get a lot is about my prices. Not because they’re too high—but because they’re much lower than most other shops. Naturally, people wonder about the quality.
So I’ll say this clearly: everything I offer is high quality. I source from small businesses that prioritize ethical practices, and I hand-select, cleanse, and package everything myself. I don’t keep my prices low because the quality is low. I keep them low because I can.
The truth is, these little Earth treasures don’t cost as much as people think. And I’m not here to maximize profit. I’m here to make them accessible.
But I didn’t just wake up one day and decide to be a “crystal dealer.” This grew from something much more personal.
I’ve been obsessed with gemstones since I was 15. I used to carry them around in a little pouch to school and was actually accused of being a witch for it. But that’s a story for another time.
Fast-forward to adulthood, after completing my Level 2 Reiki training, I wanted to incorporate crystals into my sessions. So I bought a few items from the metaphysical shop where I trained. Just the basics; chakra stones, a pendulum, sage. It cost me $70!
At the time, I didn’t question it. I’m a woman who knows what she wants, and I wanted the crystals. So I paid the price. I didn’t yet know what I know now.
The bag of magic that started it all!
Sage, chakra crystals, & a pendulum
Eventually I became a Reiki Master Teacher and started leading my own trainings. I taught my students how to work with crystals (of course), and naturally they asked where to buy them. Reluctantly, I would send them to the same shops I purchased from.
Again and again, I heard the same thing: They’re so expensive. I can’t afford them.
I felt that. My original pendulum had already broken, so the new one was basically in protective custody. These tools were sacred and expensive.
Around that time, I was also hosting monthly Reiki circles at an animal sanctuary. One day the owner invited me to come along while she purchased crystals for her property. She was looking for small tumbled gemstones that she could scatter along the pebbled walking paths. Which, at the time, felt wild to me. Who just casually spreads crystals on the ground?
That was the day everything shifted.
I learned that she had a resale certificate, which meant she could buy directly from distributors, for a fraction of the price. I also learned that my $30 pendulum likely cost around $2 wholesale. The crystals I thought were “too expensive” to be scattered on the ground were, in some cases, just pennies.
It completely changed my perspective.
I don’t believe in coincidences. I really feel like I was meant to see that—to understand that I could be a bridge. That I could help make these tools more accessible for the people already seeking them.
I didn’t need a storefront. Just a small shelf in my Reiki room for chakra sets, sage, and selenite. Simple, intentional, affordable.
And it felt really good!
The word that comes to mind when I think back on that time is mudita—finding joy in the happiness of others.
Over time, the requests grew—geodes, palm stones, herbs. Word spread beyond my trainings, and the requests kept coming. Bracelets, mala necklaces, eye pillows, oracle cards. Before I knew it, I had a full metaphysical shop. I may have gone a little overboard—but I genuinely loved being able to offer those things.
I started bringing items to my full moon events. Then offered local deliveries. Eventually, I built a website and began shipping across the U.S.
These days, I’ve scaled back quite a bit. I keep the basics and take special requests when I can. But the intention has never changed.
Along the way, I’ve learned how crystals are mined, how herbs are harvested, and how to ask the important questions about ethical sourcing. I’ve built relationships with suppliers I trust. And I’ve formed some really beautiful friendships with people who first found me through this work.
And the joy, honestly, the joy, is still my favorite part. Especially when I get to gift someone a stone just because. That feeling never gets old.
So if you’ve ever wondered why my prices are what they are, this is the story.
Quality spiritual tools don’t have to be expensive. And being able to offer them in a way that feels accessible and aligned… that’s what makes me happy.
